Who we are
About Me
My name is Sarah Read, and after a 15-year career in primary education, I have followed my passion for supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities into a role focused on helping children with literacy difficulties and dyslexia.
As a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENDCo) in a large primary school, I have first-hand knowledge of the challenges many children face within the education system. I have worked with hundreds of children, both as a class teacher and SENDCo, supporting them to build confidence, develop their skills, and realise their full potential.
In addition to Special Educational Needs, as a school leader my interest in teacher education lead me to supporting many trainee and recently qualified teachers, including secondment to teacher training institutions. This places me uniquely to be able to work effectively with the adults around the children I am supporting to develop their knowledge and skills to adapt to meet the needs of the children and young people in their care.
My work is rooted in a deep understanding that every child learns differently. I am committed to identifying barriers to learning and putting effective, child-centred support in place so that children can thrive academically and emotionally.

Personal Life
As a mother to two dyslexic children, I now walk the same path as many of the families I support. This lived experience gives me a unique insight into the emotional and practical challenges that children and parents face, both at school and at home. It strengthens my belief in the importance of early identification, tailored support, and advocacy for every child’s needs.
Having three children there is little time for personal interests! However, I try to find some time each week to enjoy reading, yoga and baking. I love spending time with my children outdoors and we enjoy camping as a family.
